Jap-Restaurant
YUP, I just started working at Japanese restaurant in downtown. Well actually I never worked at any restaurant or cafe. I worked at "Internet cafe" before, so technically I worked in food industry. right?
My first day was, I would say, so-so. one of the busboy told me it is good for first day but he might be being nice.Anyway, we will see how it goes.
most of people who work there are non-Japanese. Why is that? it is always like that. I guess we as Japanese don't have money to do own business or we are not brave enough to start something under own name? I don't know.
There is one Japaneses sushi chef and me, I think one waiter is Japanese , not sure. you know I still feel awkward that being in Asian cultures. I just don't know how to socialize with them. I've never felt comfortable being surrounded by only Asian people. some people I can get along with but usually they feel I am strange or too Americanized or some other stupido reasons.
Am I Americanized? I don't think so. I am just accustomed to American culture well. I would put it that way. I speak weird English. my expression is maybe Japanese style or my style. I panic, I am shy, not smart, short, absolutely not Japanese looking, I am fat and have short hair, do facial expression, move a lot, loud sometimes, see maybe I don't look like any other Japanese girls. huh?
I don't care though. Looks is just like an entry way. You know, there is the house, you come into the house from the Entry but you gotta explore inside too, you know how many bedrooms?, nice bathrooms?, nice kitchen? you know all that kind of stuff. You never be able to tell how nice inside is unless that is glass house.
For me , being waitress is for just have fun thing.Of course money, but that is secondary. So I am so sorry but I cannot dedicate my life style to your restaurant. but when I work, I work professionally. you know, it doesn't matter what type of job that is. That is the bottom line.
well we will see how it goes.
