"Asians less likely to seek therapy"
That was the article from San Francisco Chronicle. Well I know, I know, it is just a fact that Asian Americans less likely to make use of mental health services. but I guess there is something cultural thing behind the fact.
We as Asians, we tend not to express out feeling to others. I guess it is religious thing? or custom things or maybe social system. I only can talk about Japanese system, but Japan is a little bit different from other Asian countries. Because we don't live in Continent. Islanders (not only Asian countries) are different.
All I am saying here is just MY opinion and I don't think everyone agrees with it, I guess. When I was is Japan, I felt there was no place I can talk about things freely, being different or having different thoughts wasn't normal thing, in school of course you are not free at all. Especially, in my high school, we had OF COURSE uniform, length of skirt has to be exact, socks should be white(No Logos), Hair style has to to be the same as everyone , bags, shoes, sub-bag etc...
It was o-kay to me, I really didn't care about these rules. Because I already felt it was waste my energy to fight against these adults(teachers) and school system. And most definitely, I hated Japanese culture.
Since I came here, I kinda can see some good things about Japanese culture but still it doesn't attract me though. And I know I have these behavior or cultural manner in me.
well I am kinda off from the topic but what I wanted to say was we(maybe ME) usually have to keep feeling inside and have to deal with it. Maybe time can help you to accept things and let you move on, or maybe people will help you by listening to you, That is what friends for right? But if you don't have friends or someone whom you can talk to....... that is bad. REALLY. Recently there are lot of murder news in Japan, teenagers are killing their friends, parents, sisters and brothers... That is sick, but ususally they were alone. I think kids in general, they need someone to talk to or haging out with. To be with someone is really important, think I.
Will Therapy help? I don't know, Definitely, better than nothing but I don't know. I guess, it depends on therapist ,huh?
Sometimes I wonder how therapists solve their mental problems.
I just read through my blog, my writing so bad!
whatever.
